Well we finally have snow in Heber, just in time for my new commute to Lehi...I'll save that for a different blog post...

Even though the snow creates a lot more hassle, I'm excited to finally have some snow this winter. It's been so weird without it. Chito and I celebrated the snow fall by making a snowman in our backyard. Yes I have made snowmen before, but never with this great of snow! We formed a small ball and then rolled it all around the yard making it bigger and bigger-I had never been able to do that before! Needless to say I was very excited. October 15th, 2011 was the best day of my life-I married the man of my dreams :)

The day started with our sealing for eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. It was great to have so many people there who are so close to me. We came out the doors to find even more loved ones waiting for us. After many pictures, we headed to our dinner at the Charleston town hall. It was catered by Utah Celebrations. The dinner was delicious and the fudge Grandma Cole made for dessert was divine. After dinner we rushed over to Soldier Hollow to put some final touches on the reception decor until people started to show. Chito and I stood in line greeting all our guests. We had Caleb Blood and his band playing background music. We had a pumpkin curry soup and a potato soup with different breads, cheeses, and apple slices to eat. As well as Lemonade to wash it all down. We also had several different kinds of cakes for dessert made by my Aunt Sonja. There were Chocolate, Carmel Apple, Pumpkin Spice, and Vanilla cakes.

My theme/decor was all about heritage. I wanted to tie pieces of my ancestors into the wedding. I had a wedding dress display which included my mother's dress, both grandmothers' and my great grandmothers. There was a table full of pictures of our ancestors and pieces of antique furniture around the room. My center pieces were tapestry table toppers made by my Grandma Anderson with lanterns on top. I had twinkle lights over the dance floor and large white drapes around the doors. A fire was blazing behind us and more twinkle lights surrounded the building.

During the reception guests signed in on a quilt square which my sister in law, Allie, is making into a quilt. Guests also took pictures in our photo booth built by my father in law. After the line faded, Chito and I cut (smashed in our faces) our cake, had our father/daughter and mother/son dances, as well as our first dance. We then invited everyone to dance with us. I was really happy that everyone got into the dancing-it's always a risky move at receptions, but it turned out really well. We then had the bouquet toss-Alyssa caught it, and the garter toss. More dancing followed until Chito and I were rushed away to our departure surrounded by sparklers.

After Chito and I began to drive away, we pulled to the side to take some of the cans off the back of our car. As Chito was cutting them off, one of the lips on the can actually cut his hand and he began gushing blood-so we made a stop to his mom's house to bandage him up and change clothes before we headed to Park City.

We stayed in Park City for our honeymoon and had a great time there. We ended our honeymoon with my 22nd birthday where Chito took me shopping in Salt Lake. It was a really great week and so nice to spend time together. Sometimes, who am I kidding-all the time- I wish we didn't have school and work and could just play all day.

It was a wonderful reception and everything turned out even better than I imagined. My family and friends put so much effort into helping it all come together and I truly appreciate all they did. I want to thank Colby Su for doing all my invitations, Jill Thomas for doing our groomals, Jami Leavitt for doing our engagements and wedding day pics, Andy Harrington for our videography, Sean Oviatt for the flowers, as well as Laura Hales for flowers, Sonja for the cakes, Karen and Brenn for decor, Ken and cousins for setting up, Grandma Cole for the fudge, Grandma Anderson for the table cloth pieces, Luis for the photo booth, Caleb Blood for music, and so many more family and friends for all their help. I am especially thankful for my family who helped with everything and put up with all of my bridezilla moments. Chito and I truly appreciate everyone's help in creating such a memorable experience. We really couldn't have done it without you all.

Well, I know I'm a little early, but it's almost the new year! And with that comes the new year's resolutions. I decided today that one of those resolutions needs to be updating my blog! So much has happened since my last post......I'm married!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In honor of Mother's day, I would like to write a quick thanks to my mom, Shelley. I am so thankful to have her in my life. I look up to her and her wonderful example daily. It amazes me how she can accomplish all that she does-being the mother of five daughters and a full time second grade teacher can be a handful. I am so grateful for the effort and little details she puts into making her daughters happy. She is always inspiring us to be better people and to stand up for what we believe in. I know that she cares for us so much and I am so blessed to have her with me every step of the way in my life. Thank you mom for helping me grow into who I have become today. I love you!

It looks like the Sunshine Coast isn't so sunny anymore...

Recently all of my Australian friends' facebook statuses have been about the rain and floods. It looks like there has been heavy rains for months now, which is now turning into flooding. Apparently many people have had to evacuate their homes in Brisbane and it's not looking so great for the animals...this man was able to save this roo though!

Today I officially applied for graduation! Crazy! It is so weird to think that I am almost finished with college, or uni as they call it in Australia. It's kinda terrifying to picture what will come next. Growing up, I always imagined myself going to college after high school, but I never really planned much for after that. So now I am on the job hunt- a difficult task in today's economy. I will be walking in the Brigham Young University graduation ceremony in April, but still attend spring classes, therefore not receiving my diploma until June 2011. My major is in commercial leisure service management and my minor is in communications. I want to be a corporate events planner. If anyone hears of any kind of job opening let me know! Preferably something with event planning, program development, public relations, or non-profit management. I am willing to move almost anywhere! I am excited to embark on a new adventure- I just need to find one that will pay me...

Most blog posts around this time of year include words on new year resolutions, a summary on christmas break, or maybe the beginning of a new semester...

But this is a post about a blanket.

I have returned to my Provo apartment to begin the new semester. It is always freezing in my apartment, but at least we save on our bill. Last night, however, I was able to whip out my new heated blanket! It is a wonderful invention. Crawling into a warm bed when you are freezing is so divine. Thank you grandma and grandpa Cole for my Christmas gift!

I'm back! I have returned to the U. S. of A. after living in Australia for four months. It was an amazing experience that I wouldn't trade for anything. I made some great friends, learned a lot about working in the real world, and had some life growing experiences. It was sad to leave though. Brief summary- I worked for UrbanTrans promoting a government program to the community on using sustainable forms of transit. I made many great friends, did lots of fun things, was visited by my parents, grandparents, and Mekelle. Lauren moved to Australia and we were able to spend a month together before I left-she will be there until July 30th. I went skydiving in New Zealand, scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, made friends with Kangaroos, and had an amazing time in Sydney. I really should have blogged more about it...I did write in my journal a lot though! And there are plenty of pictures on facebook. Maybe someday I will write more...

But right now, I am in a limbo.

On Friday June 18th, I leave for Guadalajara Mexico for summer study abroad. But until then, I am living in good ole Heber City with mi familia.

It's nice to be home again. I love my family and spending time with them, and I love Heber Valley. I have helped my mom in her 2nd grade class, gotten Al pumped for her first year at girls camp, spent a TON of time with little buhanna (Alyssa Jo), had a BBQ with smores, and other exciting Cole family adventures. Today we went to a random Asian Festival and then played laser tag-it's my family's new favorite thing to do ha ha. I also spend time with the dogs-Daphne likes to sleep in my bed, and I take Zeek on walks...or rather he takes me on walks! The weather has been typical Utah weather. It was really nice when I first got home, sunny and in the 80s, but today it rained a lot and snowed in the mountains-I love it though!

I have also been able to see some of my friends. It's hard to catch everyone because we are all off on our own adventures, but it's always good when we get together-Dirty Dozen party coming soon!

But it is kinda weird being back at home. I can't really settle in because I'm just going to leave again. I don't really know what to do with myself. I have a billion things I should be doing though. For one, I need to finish my senior capstone project this week! Don't ask me why I'm writing this instead of doing that, or sleeping for that matter (my sleeping schedule is still a little off because of the jet lag and time difference issue...)

But yes, to start with, I need to finish my project, write a few papers about my internship experience, meet with my professor about it, get ready for Mexico, buy a textbook, pack for Mexico (after I unpack from Australia-I really need to do that...), visit with a few more people before I leave, make some money, and clean out my basement bedroom.

I'll get it all done though. I'm way excited about Mexico. I know it will be another amazing experience for me. (Hopefully the swine flu doesn't break out again and cancel it!) I will be living with a family there in Guadalajara and Cheyenne, my friend from BYU, will be my roommate. We attend a university in the mornings to take spanish classes, and then do service for the people during the afternoons.

I really am so blessed to have so many opportunities in my life and to have friends and family that support me in them. It was sad to leave Australia, but I'm excited to start on my new adventure in Mexico.

Until then, I am cherishing this limbo moment to spend time with my friends and family.

I saw my first Kangaroo yesterday! There were like ten of them just lying there in a field. They hang around the Uni (university) a lot. So cute! Next I need to see some Koloas! Yesterday I also went to the Brisbane temple and did baptisms. The temple was very pretty. I like Brisbane city. There is a fun atmosphere there. There is a great view of the city from the temple that I will have to post once I figure out a way to post pictures. Today I went to church again. I met a girl from China who is living here going to school. She became a member a few months ago. I also met a guy from Zimbabwe who is investigating the church. Many of the young single adults in the ward are recent converts. I love having the comfort of knowing the church is the same around the world. It is a great support system and a good way to get to know people. I have also met lots of people through work. All the new staff started and they are way fun. We hung out with some of them over the weekend. –Oh!!! I moved into my new place! It is great! Basically I live at a resort in Caloundra. It has two bedrooms, there is a great pool and gym and the beach is right outside my back door-seriously! Work is going good, we got pushed back a week so we don’t go “live” until March 8th but everything else is going well. I’m going canoeing tomorrow with some people from work so that will be interesting! More updates soon to come!

Ok- so new update- its raining. A lot. Nothing happened to us with the whole tsunami warning thing, but i'm not going to lie-its rainy a lot a lot. And the sea looks stormy. And its suppose to rain all week. -on a better note, I saw more Kangaroos yesterday! Sarah and I were just walking to work when we passed by a soccer field and saw two HUGE kangaroos! I wasn't as close to them as I was to the other ones, but these ones were big. Some of my co-workers told me that they jumped over the six foot fence there! I knew Kangaroos jumped but I didn't know they could jump that high!

My cousin Brenn, and others, have highly encouraged-more like demanded- that I update my blog. Unfortunately with the internet costs and the fact that I still haven't bought a cord to connect my camera to my computer-I have no pictures to put up. I will let you all hang in suspense as you just imagine what it looks like here. Im doing great! The weather is great! Perfect for the beach, however, not so perfect for work. The office has no air conditioner upstairs where I spend most of my time. We have lots of fans though. Work is good. I like all the people I work with and it is starting to get more interesting. Sarah and I are still in pursuit of a new apartment. We believe we have found it, but we are having troubles actually getting the leased signed. Hopefully that will happen this week. I went to church here yesterday. Basically like any other ward, except the building did have a nice courtyard in the middle. So far mostly what I have done in Australia consists of going to the beach, walking around town, riding the bus a lot, grocery shopping almost everyday (as we do not know how long we are staying in the place we are now), going to work, going to the market, eating (the food actually isn't all that great here... Sarah and I did have our first BBQ in Australia the other night though! That was delicious! ), sleeping, and repeat. I really am having a great time here. I need to plan out all the things I want to see and do before I leave-I feel like time is already flying! First task-make plans for Easter weekend! Any suggestions?

G’ day mate! So I’m finally here in Australia! The past few days have been crazy but amazing. I still can’t believe I’m living in Australia. Sarah, my co-worker and I arrived in Brisbane Australia Wednesday morning Australian time. We then took a bus to Mooloolaba where our hotel is located. The weather is wonderful here! Yesterday, however, there were a few minutes of down pour rain but then total sunshine. We walked around the town for a while and ate lunch, then went to the grocery store where everything is so expensive! We are in a touristy area so I think the prices are jacked up. We also got new cell phones and an internet card. This morning Sarah and I went to the beach. After, Sarah and I started house hunting. Our company put us in a hotel for two weeks and we are now in charge of finding our long term stay… no luck yet. Tonight we plan on taking a stroll down the beach, and then on to more house hunting tomorrow. We start work on Monday but I have some research reading to do before that. Not gonna lie-I have seen so many attractive guys here! I just want to find our long term stay so I can figure out where I will go to church and then start meeting people ;) Well sorry I have no pictures up. I don’t have a way to get my pictures off my camera and onto my computer yet. I need to buy something for that. Well until next time!

Updates in my life

So I haven't blogged in a really long time.... I credit that to school....and life in general... it can all be very busy and stressful-especially as you grow closer to the end of the semester. So instead of doing something productive, like studying for my test tomorrow, I am just doing a quick update on my blog. First off, the below picture represents what I want to do, i'm sure many of you do too.

Second, I just want to say that I loved the movie "This Is It" -the Michael Jackson one. Like really yeah he may not have been the greatest guy in the world, but he was an amazing performer! I wish he could have done his final tour, it would have been amazing! Although I know I wouldn't have been able to see it cause it would cost so much money, so in a way this was good, I kinda got to watch what it would have been like. Seriously though I suggest that everyone should see it, especially if you love performances and dancing and Michael Jackson's amazing songs!

Next, a lot has happened since I last blogged. Basically though this is my third year at BYU and I love it! My classes are going well and I love my major, which is recreational management. I put together an event here called Mr. BYU, which is just a humorous take on pagenats for guys at BYU. Actually, the theme was MJ, but that was decided before his death. It took up a lot of my time but it was way fun. The event went really well and I hope to be in charge of it again next year. -Oh and I turned 20 on October 2oth, the picture below was on my birthday :)

So my big news update is that I am taking a 9 month maternity leave....just kidding! But I am leaving this January to move down under to the Sunshine Coast in Australia. I will be there for 6 months working and then I hope to do the study abroad in Guadalajara-hopefully it won't get cancelled again because of the swine... So basically I won't be coming back to the states til next fall. Lauren will be joining me in the summer though so that will be fun!

Oh so some other news in my life- my family got a new dog at the end of the summer. He is a German Shepherd and his name is Zeek. He is a monster, he chews everything and is growing so fast and is so so so strong! We all love him though and its fun to have him around. This picture is when we first got him, he is like 10 times bigger now! (I'm not kidding)

At the end of the summer I cheered at the Wasatch Alumni football game. It was a big deal because it was the high school's centennial and the dedication of the new high school. It was fun to cheer again, and this time Christina and I got to cheer together!

This year my friends and I were on a flag football intramural team. We were the Maneaters! It was so much fun. We even made it into tournament round. Next year we will take the shirts!

So in between school and my internship, I spent a few weeks at home in Heber. I'm excited for new adventures to start, but I love the time spent at home with friends and family. I miss it there already!

Well today i was suppose to board a plane to Guadalajara, Mexico. I have been planning for the longest time on doing a study abroad program through BYU this spring semester. I was suppose to go to Guadalajara, Mexico and learn Spanish. There I was to live with a host family with my friend Cheyenne and we would attend the Universidad de Autonoma in the mornings where I would be taking 8 credits of spanish class. Then go back to my house and eat lunch with my host family. After lunch I was suppose to go do service. The service Cheyenne and I were assigned to was to work with kindergarten and 1st graders. We were suppose to play with them and do activities with them. Then back home for dinner and then party it up at night. On the weekends the group (about 30 girls 2 guys and my 2 directors) would go on little trips together to different places in Mexico.

Here is Cheyenne and I in Salt Lake. We had to take a prep class for the study abroad and one of our assignments was to take public transportation up to Salt Lake and visit a Cathedral there. I'm sad we wont get to be roommates in Mexico!

I was so looking forward to this. Last tuesday, however, the director sent an email out saying that because of the Swine Flu our study abroad got canceled. At that point in time the effects of the Swine Flu and how it spreads were still unsure. BYU of course wants to keep us as safe as possible so now I don't get to go. What is funny is that there are cases of the Swine Flu in Park City, 20 min. from my house in Heber right now. But no cases anywhere near Guadalajara. But still I think it is worse in Mexico-plus I would much rather get sick here than in Mexico.

Here are some pictures our director sent, before it was canceled, to give us an idea of how it looks there and get us excited to go.... sad I won't get to see these places in person.

I am sad that I'm missing out on this great experience. I would have learned so much more about the culture over there. They say a lot of Mexico's culture actually originated in Guadalajara, for example the Mariachi bands started there. I would have really enjoyed learning from my host family about culture and values and cooking! And of course I would have gotten so much better at the Spanish language. But it's all good, everything happens for a reason. I actually have new summer plans that will also be a great experience for me. One door closes and another one opens. And maybe one day I can travel to Mexico or South America and try this again!
